There Is Only One

We had our first ultrasound yesterday afternoon and are pleased to announce that we have one baby with a healthy heartbeat.  They referred to yesterday's appointment as "pregnancy proofing".  We will go back on September 16th for "pregnancy confirmation" which will start our prenatal care contract pricing.

Based on LMP our due date was March 21, 2015, but based on measurements our due date is March 27, 2015.  The doctor is going with the later date.  That being said, this practice induces their hypertensive patients at 37 or 38 weeks.  This means that I'll be induced on Friday, March 6th or Friday, March 13.  Bad time for my work schedule, but what needs to happen will happen.

Baby On Board

It has been a while since my last post.  I believe that posted mentioned that we were starting round two of Clomid.  Well, round two was unsuccessful and we started our third Clomid cycle on June 16th.

On Monday, July 21st we found out that we have a BABY ON BOARD.  We go to our first prenatal appointment today at 8 weeks and 3 days.  I am extremely hopeful that we see ONE wiggly "gummy bear" and a heartbeat during our appointment.  I will be sure to post an update later this week.

Eddie and I have FINALLY decided on a name for a boy....Harrison Cash White.  Now we must go to the drawing board and come up with a girl name, just in case.

Clomid Round #2 In Progress

My previous post mentioned that I went to the doctor on Thursday, May 15th for a follow-up after finding out that our first round of Clomid did not result in a pregnancy.  I saw a different doctor than normal which actually turned out to be really good.  It was a little bit of a relief to have a female doctor to talk with about my issues, previous pregnancy, etc.  I was written a script for two more month's of Clomid, double the dose of our first month.

On that same night I started taking 100mg of Clomid and will take my last dose tonight before bed.

If we are successful on this cycle then we will have an estimated due date of February 16, 2015.  That is really bad timing considering that is when I get really, really busy with work.  I have always heard though, you cannot plan a baby.  We did plan with Logan and it worked out that I was pregnant through tax season and delivered twelve days after the end of my busy season.  We had hoped that we would be successful with the first round this time which would have put me back at work in time to get things done before the deadline.  Things just did not work out that way.  Rather than stopping the medication and waiting until later in the summer to try we decided to leave this is His hands.  If he sees fit for me to have a tax season off then so be it.  :)

The next post will hopefully be to let you know about an LH surge.  Stay tuned...

No Luck On Clomid Round One

I was hopeful after our confirmation of LH surge that we would successfully conceive on our first round of Clomid.  Unfortunately, that just was not the case.  AF came to visit after 40 days of waiting (May 12, 2014) which brings us to yet another Day 1.  I have a call into my doctor's office to obtain a prescription for round two of Clomid.  If he calls it in then we'll start it day 4 which is May 15, 2014.  Updates to come at a later date.

Hope Not Lost

Just when I started to lose hope, on Day 26 I finally got a smiley face on my daily at home ovulation kit test.

I forgot to take the test on Sunday, April 27th because we spent that day, Logan's third birthday, at Busch Gardens.  I was zonked when we got home and it totally slipped my mind.  I nearly forgot to test on Monday as well, but am glad that I remembered right before I fell asleep.  We both worked all day then rushed to Elizabeth City to return a rental car and pickup my vehicle from the shop after some recall work had been done.  We stopped by my inlaw's house for a visit and dinner and once again got home late.  I laid down and then it hit me....take the test.  Normally I would have said nah and waited until the next day but since I had already forgotten the day before I made myself get up.  The smiley face was worth it!  The smiley face tells us that round 1 of clomid did it's job...I have ovulated, or at least will ovulate within the next 48 hours.  Hope has not been lost....the smiley face was reassuring and reminded me that God is in control of this journey.  Here's to hoping that the next post is an announcement.

Day 1 is Upon Us

I have never been so excited to see AF.  Today is Day 1!!!  What does this signify?  Well, day 1 is the first day of bleeding.  The plan is to take Clomid on days four through eight.  On day 11 we will start testing for an LH surge which will indicate that ovulation has occurred.  We will try our best to fertilize that egg.  :)

Come Visit AF

I have never wanted a visit from AF so badly.  I finished day 10 of Provera on Thursday, March 27th.  This is four days later and still no sign of AF.  I need AF to come so that I can start taking Clomid on day 4 and start checking my levels for signs of ovulation.

I envy those that are able to conceive easily and without intervention of any kind.

The Beginnings of Our Journey for #2

My dear husband and I have decided that it is time to expand our family.  We have been trying unsuccessfully for several months now.  I regret not logging more of the events of our last pregnancy so I am going to try hard to keep up with things this time.

Today, March 18, 2014 we met with a physician to discuss our challenges with fertility.  The meeting was brief but we left with what we went for....a prescription for Clomid.  In 2010, when we were ready to try for baby #1 we were given a prescription for Clomid.  We successfully conceived during the second month on this medication.  We are hopeful that we are just as fortunate this time around.

The doctor's instructions were this:

1) Take a pill once a day for ten days which will cause a force bleed since I do not ovulate regularly, or at all, really.
2) Day 1 = first day of bleed
3) Days 4 - 8 = take Clomid
4) Days 13-18 = most fertile
5) Day 25 = take a pregnancy test
6) If not pregnant, go see doc to get a second script for Clomid.

We'll see how it goes.
